Sweets? Of course! A good midday meal consists of three courses: appetizers, a main dish, and even a dessert.

Lunch—not between meals—is the best place within our daily eating pattern for sweets like cake and fruit.

If you like sweet foods but prefer not to eat sugar, there are two alternatives: stevia and xucker. Both sweeteners are plant products.

Stevia is produced from the South American Stevia rebaudiana plant.

Xucker is made from xylitol, also known as xylit. Found in many vegetables, and is now industrially produced from corn (unfortunately, also from GMO corn) and can also be used for dental hygiene.
